Being a crazy cat lady, I was dying to visit as soon as I learned about Coffee Cottage.
However, it is not the first cat cafe in Malaysia.
That title has been nabbed by the cafe in Setapak, which has yet to be attractive enough to garner a visit from me.
On another note, that cat cafe has a human-sized pet carrier for you to hang around in.
Anyway, Coffee Cottage is located on the first floor of the row of shops nearby Asia Cafe.
Upon entering, you will notice that they glass partitioned the cafe to three parts.
The largest is the main part of the cafe, where the bar/kitchen is located, as well as the restrooms.
Another part was the smoking area, while my favorite part was where they kept the cats.
Coffee Cottage served food too, which consists of the usual cafe cuisine (sandwiches, pasta, etc.).
I did not sample any of the foods, but I did order the hot chocolate (RM12) and Nutella latte (RM14).
After quickly placing my order, I shimmied over to the entrance of the cat area to read the instructions and guidelines upon entering.
They were graphically illustrated and the rules were clearly outlined.
Definitely helps with the entire experience.

The hot chocolate was quite good, and in my books was slightly above average.
Though there was nothing special about it.
On the other hand, the Nutella latte was quite a letdown as the Nutella was spread only on the top part of the glass.
Even after a couple of fervent stirrings, it did not mix well with the latte.
If you chose to not stir it in, there was no taste of Nutella upon consuming the drink.
So I resorted to sipping a bit of latte and licking the Nutella.
Not the most graceful method, I must say.
Again, nothing special about this drink either.
Before entering the cat area, patrons are required to remove their shoes and wear the slippers provided by the establishment.
You are then required to disinfect your hands with the provided hand sanitizer.
Once you are done, you can opt to take one of the toys (referred to as teasers) to accompany you into the cat compound.
After that, cat heaven awaits.
During my visit, I counted about eight cats around.
Some were eyeing me cautiously, some were just chillaxing, while a couple of them were in Dreamland (only thing that cats do anyway).
The place was very well maintained and I did not notice any horrible or cat-like smells in the vicinity.
Food was always served to the cats and the room had an air purifier which was constantly on.
The litterboxes were placed in a separate room, accessible by the cats.
I noted that the place used pine cat litter, which is a personal favorite of mine too.
There were a couple of chairs for us humans, but I wish that there were more as it felt a little too limited.
You can bring your ordered food and drinks in, but make sure that you do not share your meals with the citizens of the cafe.
Nobody wants to see any of them sick anyway.
As the owner of five cats, I can say that I miss my own back home.
The felines here were a bit on the snobbish side and were not that friendly.
It seemed like they were tired of all the attention, and who can blame them.
Something to note is that the general rule states that the cats should not be picked up.
However, I did notice that some of the other patrons did not adhere to this particular rule.
Some of the cats were even growling and were at the verge of scratching somebody.
I felt very concerned for these people as they may not be used to handling monsters which are felines.
On my watch, nobody was harmed, though.
To conclude, I do recommend this place if you want to spend time with the cats.
But if you are here for the drinks, I would highly recommend that you spend your $$ elsewhere.
I would definitely go again for the ambience and experience, though.
