When I first came upon Sangkaya, I was intrigued.
From the product, to the concept, and to the overall branding of the company.
As of writing, the brand is opening its 8th outlet, which is definitely a feat considering that the brand is only 2 years old.

Eating coconut ice cream served on husks is not a new phenomenon.
In fact, the idea was adapted from a Thai dessert & brought to our shores by Sangkaya's founders.
Considering how original they are in our market, I wanted to give it a go.
So, there I was at Jonker Street on a weekday, looking for their stall.
I was about to give up since I could not, for the love of coconuts, find the place.
On the brink of thirst & exhaustion, I finally stumbled upon the quaint & hidden location.

So, it only made sense that I order the most expensive thing on the menu, which was RM9.90.
It was their signature product, serving 4 scoops of coconut ice cream on a fresh coconut husk with flesh strips.
Without any toppings, coconut ice cream tastes very different than regular ice cream.
Though very creamy, I did not feel nauseated, unlike eating normal ice cream.
The sweetness was just right, & adding the toppings made it even better.
